Spring Rain and a Word of Hope

Spring Rain and a Word of Hope.

The fields are changing as winter begins to break in North Carolina. Tan and brown grass is rapidly greening. Cattle are seeking the tallest clumps of short grass to eat while others are contently laying on it. Fields of early grain will begin to rapidly develop.

I remember spring rains crossing some of the country’s rolling terrain. I have watched gentle waves of rain under morning clouds. These things remind me of God’s mercy to people, whether evil or good. Even more important, these conditions are meant to be a reminder that His Word will not return void. When He sends His words, they shall accomplish His purposes. Therein lies hope for a fallen world, because He waits for some to call on Him, others to walk with Him, and still others to perhaps come home to Him.

Even in the midst of the world’s turmoil, He sets a direction, moves on those who have called upon Him, and remains steadfast in proclaiming a salvation from sin. He seeks to refresh hearts that are trodden underfoot. His purposes are not deterred by catastrophe or hardship. His steadfastness cannot be matched.

Isaiah 55:10-11 says this:

For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
And do not return there,
But water the earth,
And make it bring forth and bud,
That it may give seed to the sower
And bread to the eater,
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

My brothers and sisters in peril in many places, take heart. Many of us pray for you and send relief of many kinds as we hear about your hardships. You are not forgotten. Our Lord and Savior has not forgotten. His Word will not return void.
